Children's Mental Health

This term includes Children's Mental Health Week. A topic that is close to my heart. We have seen a significant decline in children's mental health and well-being in recent years, certainly exacerbated by covid lockdown. Many are concerned that social media and societies shift to a culture where everything is available at their finger tips, a movie, a takeaway, and friends near and far. Expectations are higher with a virtual world that shows perfection at every click.

As a school, we advocate the need to nurture mental health as much as physical health. We teach our pupils about their emotions using programmes such as the Zones of Regulation, launched during PSHE week. We subscribe to MY HAPPY MIND, an NHS endorsed weekly programme, to teach them how to maintain a 'wise' mind.

We also offer therapeutic support,  when needed,  through a variety of interventions and alternative provisions.

This extends beyond school, with a parent My Happy Mind App. We also subscribe to the National Online Safety resources where you'll find webinars and guides to support your keeping your children safe from potentially harmful content and interactions online. https://nationalcollege.com/parents

Together, we can educate the children to stay happy and healthy.
