Home Learning
We have decided to adopt a consistent approach to homework across the school. We firmly believe that establishing a structured routine will ultimately benefit our students in their educational journey.
Homework assignments will be set regularly and will help consolidate and extend the learning that takes place in the classroom. One of our key priorities when it comes to homework in 2023/24 is enhancing writing skills, particularly focusing on grammar and punctuation.
To support this, we have acquired workbooks for each year group. These workbooks are specifically designed to align with the English objectives outlined in the 2014 National Curriculum in England. The teachers will guide the students by suggesting specific pages from the workbooks to complement their classroom learning.
We also encourage students to actively engage in measuring their progress and identifying areas for development. Self-marking their homework assignments will provide them with a valuable opportunity to evaluate their understanding and identify any gaps in knowledge.
To further develop these areas, we recommend students explore relevant web-based activities such as BBC Bitesize and/or the Oak National Academy. Both of these platforms offer a range of resources and activities tailored to support students' learning. We understand that every child is unique and may require additional support or resources when it comes to homework.
Rest assured, we are here to support your child and their individual needs. If you have any concerns or questions regarding homework tasks, do not hesitate to get in touch with your child's class teacher.
We kindly request your support in creating the ideal environment for your child to complete their homework. Providing a quiet and well-lit space, free from distractions, will aid their concentration and enable them to fully engage with their tasks.
