Gloucester Road Primary School

Geography

We follow the Primary National Curriculum for Geography in England.

At Gloucester Road Primary School we empower our children with a ‘CAN DO’ attitude, embracing our school motto – ‘I CAN DO IT.’ We encourage children to develop their knowledge and understanding of geography and aim for all pupils to enjoy and achieve in geography and become confident geographers.

Year 5/6 Whole Foods visit - Fair Trade foods (16 images)

On Wednesday, Year 5/6 visited Whole Foods on Tewkesbury Road to learn about Fair Trade products and sustainability. We were lucky enough to have a tour of the store (and eat lots of free samples!) and also learn how to make guacamole in their learning centre. Each of us got to take home our pot of guacamole to share with our family. We are now going to learn more about Fair Trade products in class and use this information in our writing sessions.

On the 14th January Year 2 had a visit from Alba who is a real Arctic explorer. We learnt all about the two Polar regions and the animals that live there. We carried out experiments like blubber gloves and gloopy glaciers. We had a fantastic day and have lots of information to use in our topic work! Some of us want to become explorers and scientists in the future.
